In Utah we celebrate Pioneer Day on July 24th. That is when the pioneers that settled Utah arrived in the Salt Lake Valley. It is a state holiday so a lot of people get off work, there are fireworks shows, a huge parade in SL (as well as MANY smaller ones throughout the state). It is a really fun holiday. Anyway, each year, the weekend before Pioneer day the LDS Church sponsers a Primary parade. Primary is the organization for the children between 3 and 11 years old. We were invited to participate this year with our ward (congregation).
The float was a giant man playing a sousaphone and our theme was Our Pioneer Spirit Plays On. The kids all had instuments made from pool noodles that they "played" throughout the whole 6 block parade route- yes I know that is fairly short, but come on, the max age for the kids is 11...
Here are some pictures of Tim pushing the little girls in their stroller and Alix walking RIGHT behind the float. I acutally missed her when she came past because she was so close to the float, but I was able to run ahead of them and get a picture of her after finding her long braid from behind :)
Jonathan was SUPER while we watched. It definitely didn't hurt that a bunch
of friends came and joined us :)
And finally, here are my little marchers!
