A Fun Day with Cousins

The kids were all out of school for UEA, so we got together to play with my sister Jana and her kids.  We started off by giving McKay his very first haircut. This is just a few weeks after his first birthday.   He actually did really well.  He was a little unsure when he got hair all over his binkie, but the complaint was minimal and momentary.  I hope he stays this easy :)

After the haircut we decided to head out to the witch festival at Gardener Village in West Jordan.  It is an old farm that has been converted to a cute shopping center. There are still animals for the kids to look at, plus there are some great little shops surrounding the creek where the mill is.  It is just a fun place- especially at Halloween.  They do a witch scavenger hunt.  You print out a list before you go and then hunt for the 30+ witches they have all over the property.  Some are in plain sight, such as the one we're taking pictures with... and some are a little  lot harder to spot.

After Gardener Village we went to the West Jordan city park.  HOLY COW!!!  It has sure changed a lot!
That is the park I grew up with, or at least the ground is in the same spot.....
The playgrounds I remember are all gone.  Not only that but the entire park is now full of one way streets that lead you in a circle. There is now a huge playground that looks like an old west town.  It has towers with slides in them, little hiding spots with brain teaser games, rock walls, etc.  I sure was a fun spot for the kids to play!  The only real problem was that the bathrooms had all been closed for the season even though we were in the 70s....

Thanks Wamsleys!  We had a great day with you!
