We took drive up the canyon to see the leaves (and yes, we were way past the peak of colors, but I was in the hospital when the leaves were at their best...) We headed up Parley's Canyon and made the turn off into East Canyon and followed the route the Pioneers took into Emmigration Canyon. As we did this we talked about our ancestors that made that journey, particularly John Pack and Ward Pack. These are the two ancestors Jonathan is named after, and Grandpa has been telling Alix a little bit about them recently. At one point she started singing "pioneer children sang as they walked and walked and walked, and we talked about Ward amking that journey as a 10 year old. This is my dad's grandpa, so we're not all that far removed from us. She loved making that realization!
After our drive we stopped for dinner at "the Panda Bear" as the girls call it when the ask to go there every time we see one. The kids all did really well, but right toward the end Jonathan started screaming because he was hungry. I didn't particularly want to feed him in the middle of Panda Express, and we were really close to Oma's house, so we decided to make a visit.
This is a picture of Tim with his Oma (grandma) and his son... he was so excited to introduce the two. Her health is failing and she is deteriorating quicly. With both dementia and congestive heart failure, we felt blessed the meeting took place... He and Tanta Ingrid were also quite enamored with each other :)
Overall, it was a fun Family Night! In fact it was one of those that DIDN'T leave us wondering why we bother :)
Oh, these last pictures are of the girls wearing the Mickey Mouse ears Ingrid has. The little girls were SO excited! They love Mickey Mouse, and these ears light up with little flashing lights. They all wanted a picture with the ears :)Bethany
