The Idaho Days

Once upon a time in

the faraway land of Idaho, lived a

happy little family.

Mommy Laura was working as a teacher at the high school. She taught home economics and somehow managed to get roped into directing the school plays for the year. This was fun, yet very time consuming, and then she got called as Young Women's President for her ward. So, no spare time for mommy.... Daddy Tim was working as a custodian/ bus driver for the school district, and enjoyed his split shift. It makes Daddy happy to have time with his sweet Alix every morning!


Alix was a year and a half old, and very involved at the high school. She went to play practice with Mommy everyday and loved to talk. People were always amazed at how much she could say, and how clearly she could say it!

Mommy and Daddy were happy with their life together, but decided that maybe something was missing. They started talking about beginning fertility medication to give miss Alix a sibling. They prayed and prayed, but felt like it just wasn't the right time. Days came and went in a busy blur. Daddy was the executive secretary for the ward, so he attended lots of meetings and made lots of phone calls. Some days Mommy felt like she might go crazy with her schedule, and then things got even crazier.
Mommy taught Parent and Child Development, and one of her students thought she might be pregnant. They talked about symptoms of pregnancy, and mommy realized several of those symptoms described her life as of late. ( and fortunately the student was not pregnant...) The next time mommy and daddy went to the big blue box store, Mommy told Daddy they needed to buy a pregnancy test to show her students. The next day, while daddy and Alix were taking their after church nap, Mommy decided to pee on a stick :) Imagine Mommy's surprise when two lines appeared, without any outside help this time!
Things were definitely about to change! Mommy was in survivaly mode that first little while, as her morning sickness made her feel yucky much of the time. They decided to wait until Spring break to tell their families, who were all living in Utah. That was difficult to do, but made easier without daily contact.... Daddy told Mommy he felt like they were going to have twins, and Mommy said he was crazy!
Their first doctor appointment was set for March 3rd- with Dr. Barton. Mommy and Daddy dropped Alix off at a babysitter and drove to the doctors offfice. They were joking around with the doctor before he started the ultrasound. He asked if they wanted to see one or twon on the screen. Mommy's response was that since they hadn't used the fertility drugs this time, they were only expecting to see one.
The machine started up, and Dr. Barton started recording. He got everything postitioned, and almost immediately leaned in closer to the screen and started laughing. He patted Mommy and said, this may be somewhat uncomfortable, but there is a heartbeat, and there's another. You have two babies in there! Mommy and Daddy just looked at eachother and both started tearing up. They were very surprized, and very happy too. The rest of the appointment is a daze in Mommy's memory as she was totally overwhelmed at the time!
The notion of waiting to tell families they were pregnant flew out the window the moment Dr. Barton said twins. The next hours were spent on the phone informing eveyone they could....
Life had definitely changed!
Daddy and Mommy decided to pack up their little family and move back to Utah. They put their house on the market and moved into Mommy's parents basement for a few months until their house sold. Or at least that was the plan....
