Christmas Baking?

In years past I have spent days making hundreds of cookies to pass out to our friends and neighbors.  With all the craziness of trying to get all my Christmas sewing projects done (stay tuned for updates AFTER Christmas)  I decided to simplify this year.

Instead of doing a ton of baking this year we decided to make Muddy Buddies.  These are a super simple but super yummy treat.  And- as a bonus, something the kids were able to help with...  (official recipe is at the bottom of the page....)

The girls all had lots of fun helping as they dumped the cereal in the bowl, and especially as they helped shake the mixture in the bag with the powdered sugar.

Jonathan had far more fun hanging out underneath the kitchen sink.  It is his favorite spot in the house.  So much so that the only things stored there are washcloths since they can't hurt him in any way, and he can't cause damage to them....

Ingredients
9cups Rice Chex®, Corn Chex® or Chocolate Chex® cereal (or combination)
1cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2cup peanut butter
1/4cup butter or margarine
1teaspoon vanilla
1 1/2cups powdered sugar

Preparation Directions
1.Into large bowl, measure cereal; set aside.
2.In 1-quart microwavable bowl, microwave chocolate chips, peanut butter and butter uncovered on High 1 minute; stir. Microwave about 30 seconds longer or until mixture can be stirred smooth. Stir in vanilla. Pour mixture over cereal, stirring until evenly coated. Pour into 2-gallon resealable food-storage plastic bag.
3.Add powdered sugar. Seal bag; shake until well coated. Spread on waxed paper to cool. Store in airtight container in refrigerator.
